Hiện nay, nông dân trong vùng chuyển đổi tôm – lúa trên địa bàn tỉnh đang thu hoạch lúa để cải tạo đất chuẩn bị thả giống vụ tôm chính trong năm. Năm nay, thời tiết thuận lợi, lúa trúng mùa lại bán được giá cao, còn tôm càng xanh nuôi xen canh cũng đạt đầu con, lớn nhanh, nên niềm vui của bà con được nhân lên.
Nông dân xã Ninh Thạnh Lợi (huyện Hồng Dân) tháo nước để chuẩn bị thu hoạch lúa.
Theo Phòng NN&PTNT huyện Hồng Dân, vụ lúa mùa năm nay toàn huyện xuống giống được 23.500ha, với các giống lúa như: OM 4900, OM 5451, OM 2517, Một bụi đỏ… Nông dân đang bước vào chính vụ thu hoạch lúa để chuẩn bị cải tạo lại đất, lấy nước mặn để nuôi vụ tôm mới. Năng suất lúa từ 5,5 – 6 tấn/ha. Giá lúa tươi được thương lái thu mua tại chỗ từ 5.500 – 5.800 đồng/kg (tùy loại lúa). Sau khi trừ chi phí, bà con lãi hơn 2,3 triệu đồng/công.
Ông Nguyễn Văn Đức (xã Ninh Thạnh Lợi, huyện Hồng Dân) chia sẻ: “Năm nay, nhờ mưa nhiều nên nông dân có điều kiện rửa mặn tốt, từ đó lúa trúng mùa, có hộ đạt hơn 6 tấn/ha. Bà con đang cải tạo đất để kịp thời thả giống vụ tôm theo khuyến cáo của cán bộ kỹ thuật nông nghiệp.
Những năm gần đây, do chủ động trong việc chọn mua tôm giống thích ứng với điều kiện sống trong môi trường nước ngọt nên nông dân trong vùng chuyển đổi đã thả xen canh thêm tôm càng xanh, tôm sú, tôm thẻ chân trắng… Qua đó, giúp bà con tăng thêm thu nhập trên cùng một diện tích canh tác.
Ở huyện Phước Long, nông dân cũng đang tập trung thu hoạch lúa mùa để chuẩn bị nuôi lại vụ tôm. Vụ lúa trên đất tôm năm nay, huyện Phước Long xuống giống 13.500ha, tập trung chủ yếu ở các xã Phước Long, Vĩnh Phú Tây, thị trấn Phước Long. Trước khi bước vào thu hoạch lúa, bà con đã tháo nước ra khỏi ruộng để thuận tiện cho máy gặt đập liên hợp vào thu hoạch, vừa thuận tiện trong việc thu hoạch tôm nuôi trong ruộng lúa.

Ông Lý Thanh Tuấn (xã Vĩnh Phú Tây, huyện Phước Long) phấn khởi: “Thu hoạch xong vụ tôm càng xanh nuôi xen canh trong ruộng lúa là tôi thu đủ chi phí đầu tư cho 2ha lúa – tôm (từ đầu vụ cho đến nay). Giờ đây, coi như tôi lãi ròng vụ lúa, không phải lo lắng nữa. Mấy hôm nay, nhiều thương lái đến hỏi mua lúa nhưng tôi chưa nhận đặt cọc. Đợi khi nào giá lúa lên tôi sẽ bán”.
Theo nông dân trong vùng chuyển đổi tôm – lúa, từ khi chuyển sang sản xuất theo mô hình tôm – lúa, đây là năm lúa cho năng suất cao nhất. Bên cạnh yếu tố thời tiết thuận lợi, việc đầu tư hệ thống thủy lợi, ứng dụng khoa học – kỹ thuật vào sản xuất, ý thức tuân thủ lịch thời vụ của người dân cũng là những yếu tố chính giúp vụ lúa năm nay đạt năng suất cao.
Ông Nguyễn Trung Hiếu, Trưởng phòng NN&PTNT huyện Hồng Dân, cho biết: “Năm nay, vụ lúa trên đất tôm của bà con trên địa bàn huyện khá thuận lợi. Đơn vị đang hướng dẫn nông dân thu hoạch dứt điểm sớm vụ lúa để cải tạo đất chuẩn bị xuống giống vụ tôm nuôi cho kịp thời vụ. Năm nay, do cảnh báo sẽ có hạn, mặn xảy ra sớm nên Phòng NN&PTNT huyện tăng cường mở các lớp tập huấn, hướng dẫn, hỗ trợ kỹ thuật để giúp bà con có một vụ mùa thành công”.
