Tháng 4 vừa qua, xuất khẩu tôm Việt Nam sang hầu hết các thị trường chính là Nhật Bản, Mỹ, Trung Quốc đều tăng. Dù nhu cầu tiêu thụ tôm tại các nhà hàng, khách sạn giảm nhưng tăng tại siêu thị và hệ thống bán lẻ vì người tiêu dùng có xu hướng mua về nhà chế biến trong thời kỳ dịch bệnh Covid-19. Đặc biệt, tại Mỹ, thị trường nhập khẩu tôm thứ 2 của Việt Nam (sau Nhật Bản), ghi nhận mức tăng trưởng dương 4 tháng liên tục, với tổng kim ngạch 158,7 triệu USD, tăng 17% so với cùng kỳ năm ngoái. Nguyên nhân chính là do các nhà nhập khẩu Mỹ giảm nhập từ Ấn Độ, Ecuador bởi ảnh hưởng Covid-19.
VASEP thông tin thêm hiện sản xuất tôm từ các nguồn cung chính trên thế giới gồm: Ấn Độ, Ecuador, Trung Quốc, Thái Lan, Indonesia… đều đang gặp khó khăn do tác động của dịch Covid-19. Do dịch bệnh diễn biến khó lường, Ấn Độ kéo dài phong tỏa đến hết tháng 5, khiến chuỗi cung ứng tôm bị đứt gãy. Việc nuôi tôm ở Ấn Độ cũng gặp khó khăn từ khâu con giống đến vấn đề đầu ra, nhà máy chế biến thiếu công nhân, giá tôm và sản lượng tôm sụt giảm mạnh. Ecuador cũng phải đối mặt với những thách thức tương tự do Covid-19 khi tâm dịch hoành hành ngay trung tâm sản xuất tôm của nước này. Còn tại Trung Quốc, ngành nuôi tôm đang bị dịch bệnh tấn công, gây thiệt hại không nhỏ. Đây là cơ hội cho tôm của Việt Nam nếu bảo đảm được nguồn cung nguyên liệu.
Các thị trường tiềm năng
Theo Hiệp hội Chế biến và Xuất khẩu thủy sản Việt Nam (VASEP), xuất khẩu tôm Việt Nam trong tháng 4 tiếp tục tăng 5,8%, đạt 244,2 triệu USD, đưa tổng kim ngạch 4 tháng đầu năm lên 872,8 triệu USD, tăng 2,9% so với cùng kỳ năm 2019. “Việc cơ bản đẩy lùi được dịch bệnh Covid-19 tại Việt Nam góp phần giúp các doanh nghiệp tôm Việt Nam có khả năng cạnh tranh cao hơn so với các đối thủ khác như Ấn Độ, Ecuador, do những nước vẫn đang gồng mình chống chọi với Covid-19, chưa thể quay lại với hoạt động sản xuất bình thường.” – VASEP nhận định.
“Người dân nên mạnh dạn thả nuôi để đón đầu cơ hội giá tôm sẽ phục hồi tốt cuối năm nay nếu Covid-19 trên toàn cầu được kiểm soát hoàn toàn, nhu cầu thị trường hồi phục. Người nuôi cũng nên chú ý đa dạng cỡ tôm khi thu hoạch, không nên chỉ tập trung vào cỡ lớn. Trong bối cảnh dịch Covid-19, các kênh tiêu thụ tôm cỡ lớn như: nhà hàng, khách sạn gần như đóng cửa nên nhu cầu giảm. Trong khi đó, do thu nhập giảm, người tiêu dùng sẽ chuyển sang sử dụng tôm cỡ trung và nhỏ nhiều hơn” – VASEP khuyến cáo.
