Diệp hạ châu (cây chó đẻ thân xanh) được nghiêm cứu là có tính kháng khuẩn và tăng cường đáp ứng miễn dịch trong nuôi trồng thủy sản. Khi “thần dược” này có khả năng ức chế và tiêu diệt một số loại vi khuẩn Vibrio spp và V.parahaemolyticus gây nên các bệnh hoại tử gan- tụy cấp tính (AHPND) trên tôm và Tăng cường khả năng đáp ứng miễn dịch trên cá tra (Pagasionnodon hypothalmus).
Dùng để ức chế và tiêu diệt một số loại vi khuẩn gây nên các bệnh hoại tử gan- tụy cấp tính (AHPND) trên tôm.
Điều này được thể hiện qua tỷ lệ MBC/MIC (Minimum bactericidal concentration/ Minimum inhibitory concentration- nồng độ tiêu diệt tối thiểu/ nồng độ ức chế tối thiều). Nếu tỷ lệ này nhỏ hơn hoặc bằng 4 thì dịch chiết có khả năng tiêu diệt vi khuẩn, mặt khác nếu tỷ lệ này lớn hơn 4 thì dịch chiết chỉ có tác dụng ức chế vi khuẩn.
Các thí nghiệm đã chứng minh rằng MIC và MBC của dịch chiết từ cây đối với V.parahaemolyticus lần lượt là 125 mg/mL; 500 mg/mL, nghĩa là tỷ lệ MBC/MIC bằng 4. Tương tự với Vibrio sp, MIC và MBC lần lượt là 62,5 mg/mL; 250mg/mL, tỷ lệ MBC/MIC bằng 4.
Dùng tăng cường hệ miễn dịch trên cá tra.
Khác với trên tôm, cây diệp hạ châu được nghiêm cứu tăng cường sức đề kháng giảm các tác nhân gây stress. Các hợp chất phenolic là các hợp chất chuyển hóa thứ cấp của thực vật có tác dụng tích cực đối với sức khỏe con người vì chúng có hoạt tính chống oxi hóa. Ở nghiên cứu khác, nhóm phenolic và flavonid là những hợp chất có khả năng chống oxi hóa. Nổi trội nhất ở thực vật là những hợp chất chống oxi hóa rất mạnh, được chứng minh là mạnh hơn vitamin C, vitamin E, carotenoid.
Kết quả nghiên cứu của cho thấy khi bổ sung dịch chiết từ cây chó đẻ thân xanh sau 24h thì hoạt tính ROS (Reactive oxigen species- Các dạng oxi phản ứng mạnh) và chỉ số tổng kháng thể bạch cầu Ig của cá tra tăng đáng kể so với nghiệm thức đối chứng.
Ngoài ra cây chó đẻ thân xanh còn có tác dụng kháng khuẩn.
Trong cây chó đẻ thân xanh (Phyllanthus amanus) có chứa một số nhóm hợp chất như: Nhóm ankaloid, nhóm phenolic, nhóm flavonoid và các acid khác. Nhiều báo cáo khoa học cũng đã chỉ ra rằng hợp chất phenolic và flavonid có hoạt tính kháng khuẩn cao. Sử dụng nồng độ phenolic tổng, flavonid tổng như một tiêu chí để xác định hoạt tính kháng khuẩn ở các thử nghiệm xác định hiệu quả của các loại dịch chiết từ thân hoặc từ lá cây chó đẻ.
Như vậy không ngoa khi nói cây chó đẻ thân xanh là thần dược khi tiềm năng ứng dụng dịch chiết từ cây chó đẻ thân xanh vào phòng và trị bệnh cho động vật thủy sản là rất lớn, đặc biệt là trong trị bệnh do vi khuẩn Vibrio sp gây ra.
