Conapesca (Ủy ban Quốc gia về Nghề cá và Nuôi trồng thủy sản) hợp tác với Senasica (Cơ quan dịch vụ quốc gia về sức khỏe, an toàn và chất lượng thưucj phẩm Nông nghiệp) phát triển chương trình truy xuất nguồn gốc toàn quốc với tôm nuôi tại quốc gia này nhằm mục tiêu nâng cao năng lực sản xuất, thương mại và tiêu thụ mặt hàng tôm.
Hệ thống SITMA gồm một phụ lục chuỗi nuôi tôm sẽ có chức năng cung cấp thông tin được cập nhật cho người nuôi, nâng cao hiệu quả hoạt động cho các trại nuôi tôm trên cả nước và tăng sức cạnh tranh cho cá doanh nghiệp tôm tại Mexico trên thị trường quốc tế. Dự kiến, SITMA sẽ được áp dụng chính thức vào quý đầu năm 2020 sau khi các cuộc đàm phán với các nhà sản xuất chấp thuận tham gia hệ thống cuối cùng.
SITMA đảm bảo giám sát sản phẩm từ nơi sản xuất đến tiêu thị cuối cùng tại nhà hàng hoặc tại hộ gia đình bằng các phương tiện dán nhãn thông tin đi kèm mã QR.
Các hãng nuôi trồng thủy sản sẽ tiếp cận hệ thống lấy thông tin về đối thủ cạnh tranh, hiểu được đqặc điểm của sản phẩm và hành trình của sản phẩm khi được đưa ra thị trường. Thông tin này sẽ được xác thực bở Conapesca và Senasica.
Để đảm bảo chắc chắn hơn về khả năng truy xuất nguồn gốc của sản phẩm tại thời gian xuất bán, SITMA sẽ có một đường link dẫn trực tiếp tới cục quản lý vùng quốc tế và quốc gia về nông nghiệp lành mạnh, cho phép giám sát tôm từ điểm nuôi tới các thị trường nhập khẩu.
