Ấn Độ đang rất lo ngại việc Mỹ quyết định tiếp tục kéo dài lệnh cấm nhập khẩu tôm biển tự nhiên.

Các hãng xuất khẩu thủy sản Ấn Độ đang rất lo ngại việc Mỹ quyết định tiếp tục kéo dài lệnh cấm nhập khẩu tôm biển tự nhiên từ Ấn độ do được đánh bắt bởi các tàu cá không có thiết bị loại trừ rùa biển. Lệnh cấm này có hiệu lực từ tháng 5/2018 sau khi Mỹ phát hiện các tàu cá Ấn Độ không áp dụng phương pháp khai thác kết hợp bảo vệ rùa biển. Một số hãng xuất khẩu tại Kerala bị ảnh hưởng nghiêm trọng nhất bởi lệnh cấm này cũng đã bắt đầu lắp đặt thiết bị loại trừ rùa biển, hy vọng Mỹ sẽ sớm gỡ bỏ lệnh cấm. Dù tôm biển chỉ chiếm một tỷ trọng nhỏ trong cơ cấu tôm xuất khẩu, nhưng mang lại thu nhập tốt cho hàng nghìn ngư dân Ấn Độ với trị giá 300 triệu USD/năm.
