Nhiệt độ xuống thấp vào mùa lạnh làm ảnh hưởng sức đề kháng, quá trình sinh trưởng và phát triển của tôm. Do đó, cần có những biện pháp chăm sóc hợp lý để ao nuôi phát triển tốt, tránh các thiệt hại xảy ra.
Hình thức nuôi thâm canh
Thả đúng mật độ theo từng loại hình nuôi: nuôi thâm canh, quảng canh cải tiến, quảng canh… theo khuyến cáo của nhà chuyên môn. Tuân thủ đúng theo lịch thời vụ đã khuyến cáo, hạn chế thả, nuôi vào thời điểm thời tiết lạnh.
Giảm hoặc không tăng lượng thức ăn, mặc dù kiểm tra thức ăn trong nhá/sàng ăn đã hết.
Nâng mực nước trong ao lên trên 1,4 m nhằm giữ nhiệt độ ít dao động giữa ngày và đêm.
Tăng cường thời gian vận hành quạt nước, nhất là thời điểm trời ít nắng, ban đêm, nhiệt độ xuống thấp.
Tăng cường sức đề kháng cho tôm nuôi bằng cách bổ sung các chất dinh dưỡng như Vitamin C, men tiêu hóa…
Sử dụng chế phẩm sinh học để ổn định môi trường, hạn chế khí độc…
Khi phát hiện tôm nuôi bị nhiễm bệnh do vi khuẩn gây ra, cần sử dụng các loại thuốc diệt khuẩn (Iodine, BKC…) để điều trị; tôm nuôi bị nhiễm bệnh do virus thì cần xem xét tình hình toàn bộ, trường hợp nặng thì phải thu hoạch sớm.

Nuôi quảng canh cải tiến
Cần nâng mức nước trong vuông (mương bao >1,2 m, trên mặt ruộng >0,5 m).
Tuyệt tối không cấp nước trực tiếp từ sông rạch chưa qua lắng lọc. Cần chủ động nguồn nước đã qua lắng, lọc, xử lý kỹ trước khi cấp vào vuông nuôi.
Sử dụng men vi sinh định kỳ để ổn định môi trường, hạn chế khí độc làm sạch môi trường vuông nuôi.
Trường hợp đang cho tôm ăn dặm thì ngưng hoặc giảm thức ăn và phối trộn thêm các chất dinh dưỡng như Vitamin C, men tiêu hóa… nhằm tăng cường sức đề kháng cho tôm nuôi.
Hình thức nuôi quảng canh và tôm rừng
Thả cắt vụ để có thời gian cải tạo đất. Nên cắt vụ tại thời điểm sên vét ao đầm, phải đảm bảo có thời gian phơi ao, đầm ít nhất khoảng 15 – 30 ngày.
Thời gian thả giống khoảng cuối tháng 11 đến cuối tháng 12.
Ðối với bất kỳ hình thức nuôi nào thì người nuôi cũng cần thường xuyên kiểm tra các yếu tố môi trường (ngày 2 lần), kiểm tra tình trạng sức khỏe tôm nuôi, kiểm tra bờ bao, cống bọng… để phát hiện sớm nhất các yếu tố bất lợi cho tôm nhằm đưa ra biện pháp xử lý hiệu quả và nhanh nhất.
Khi phát hiện tôm nuôi có các biểu hiện ngoài tầm kiểm soát thì người nuôi cần báo ngay cho cán bộ kỹ thuật chuyên môn gần nhất để có biện pháp xử lý kịp thời, tránh tự ý dùng thuốc, hóa chất, kháng sinh cấm để trị các bệnh do virus gây ra, không tự ý xả thảy nước chưa qua xử lý ra môi trường bên ngoài… sẽ ảnh hưởng đến môi trường xung quanh.
